Our 1st Grade Reading Program

  • SRA Imagine It!    Students in 1st Grade use the reading and spelling series SRA Imagine It!  This reading program is online, and each student has received a special login and password to access the site.  Your child is encouraged to use the website to reread the weekly story, practice vocabulary, and play phonics & spelling games.  To see the current weekly assigned reading unit for each reading group, go to the Spelling Practice Page.

  • Accelerated Reader   Students read personal interest books on their reading level and take a computerized AR test in the classroom.  (Students can't take AR tests on their home computer.)  Students are required to earn a specific amount of AR points each quarter.  See the Accelerated Reader Page.

  • Nightly Reading    Students must read each night as part of their homework assignment.  This may include individual reading, reading on the SRA Website, or reading together.  Complete the reading log in the homework envelope nightly.
